Inspired by the Economist

Stepping Back Into a Larger World

This morning, after many years, I picked up The Economist. We’d bought a copy a few weeks ago, but I hadn’t looked at it yet. I started feeling light and connected while flipping through the pages. There was news about places I used to think of a long time ago and places I hadn’t heard about in ages. It brought back feelings of familiarness that I hadn’t felt in a while. I was reminded of how large this world is and the enormous potential the world holds for all of us. At the same time, I saw how small my world has become over the years and how much I’ve become disconnected from the world. Despite being connected to some or other form of communication device during all my waking hours, I definitely hadn’t been communicating with the right sources. I didn’t even realize till I opened up the magazine how much I miss real news and how far away I am from everything.
